ABCP Calculator is an independent, free tool that helps Soldiers, Marines, recruits, and their families check where they stand against the current military body-composition standard — without digging through regulation PDFs to find a formula.
This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the U.S. Army, the U.S. Marine Corps, the Department of Defense, or any government agency.
Why We Built This
On July 7, 2026, Army Directive 2026-13 replaced the height/weight screening table and the one-site tape test with waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) as the sole Army Body Composition Program (ABCP) standard. In the weeks after, most of the calculators and articles still online were describing the rescinded method — because rebuilding a site around a brand-new standard takes real work, and most sites hadn't done it yet.
We built ABCP Calculator to close that gap: a tool that reflects the current standard accurately, keeps the legacy method available for anyone researching prior policy, and gets updated as the Army's own 180-day review of the standard progresses.
Who Runs This Site
ABCP Calculator is built and maintained independently. We want to be direct about what that means:
- No one associated with this site is active-duty, reserve, or a veteran of the U.S. Army or Marine Corps.
- No one here holds a fitness, medical, or nutrition credential.
- This is not an official Army or DoD resource, and nothing on it should be read as one.
What we do is read the regulations carefully, verify every number against a primary source, and build calculators that get the math right — including the details that are easy to get wrong, like truncating a WHtR result to three decimal places instead of rounding it. A ratio of 0.5499 is recorded as 0.549 and passes; it is not rounded up to 0.550. That distinction is the difference between a useful tool and a misleading one.
How Our Content Is Produced
Content on this site is researched and drafted with AI assistance, then checked against official sources before publishing. Every substantive policy claim is meant to trace back to a named regulation or directive, not to another calculator site's summary of one. Primary sources used across this site include:
- army.mil — official Army announcements and the ABCP FAQ
- armypubs.army.mil — Army Publishing Directorate (AR 600-9, Army Directive 2026-13)
- armyresilience.army.mil — Army Body Composition Program resources
- MARADMIN 066/26 and official Marine Corps releases, for Marine Corps-specific standards
If you find something here that contradicts current policy, please tell us. Corrections get made quickly, and pages describing rescinded standards stay clearly labeled as historical rather than being quietly deleted — so anyone who lands on an old page from a search result knows immediately that it no longer applies.
What This Site Is Not
It is not official. Your unit's measurement, taken by trained personnel and recorded under AR 600-9 or the equivalent Marine Corps process, is the only one that counts. This calculator is for personal self-assessment between official screenings.
It is not medical or fitness advice. If you're working to get within standard, talk to your unit's fitness leaders, a registered dietitian, or a medical provider. Please don't use extreme methods — rapid dehydration, sweat suits, crash dieting, or diuretics — to move a number. They damage your health, hurt your performance, and the effect doesn't last. Military OneSource offers free, confidential health and wellness support to service members and their families, 24/7.
It is not a substitute for your chain of command. Policy changes — it changed dramatically in 2026, and it may change again. Confirm anything that affects your career with your unit.
